美國南加州野火近來燒不停，上千戶家園財產付之一炬，《衛報》（The Guardian）報導，加州州長布朗（Jerry Brown）指責美國總統川普（Donald Trump）不了解氣候變遷帶來的影響，美國退出《巴黎氣候協定》將使類似災難更常發生。

當局10日指出，6處因風而起的大火場已摧毀超過千戶人家，超過20萬名民眾逃難而去。9日晚間，風勢更為劇烈，8700名投入救火任務的消防弟兄面臨處境更為艱難。

《時代雜誌》（Time）指出，南加州在10月至3月間，經常吹起「聖安納焚風」，從沙漠吹來的風導致植物乾枯，使植物更易起火。這次大火打破加州歷史紀錄，布朗檢視其中一處火場「湯瑪斯大火」（Thomas Fire）造成的災害，「這已經打破過往常態。」布朗說，「我們已準備好聖誕節的時候繼續打火，這十分奇怪、不尋常。」

布朗將矛頭指向氣候變遷，他在節目上表示，川普退出《巴黎氣候協定》是錯誤的決定，「那是十分荒謬的想法，那份聲明一點真實性都沒有。」布朗說，「我認為，川普總統壓根不怕上帝，不怕上帝的怒火，恐懼使人謙卑。這是對事實的魯莽漠視，後果攸關生存，原本可獲得減輕，卻同樣遭到漠視。」

對於地球暖化的後果，保育團體「海洋精神」（Sea Legacy）最近捕捉到一隻飢餓北極熊的瀕死畫面，提醒世人地球暖化可能加速北極融冰速度，破壞北極熊生態系統。

「海洋精神」團隊攝影師尼克蘭（Paul Nicklen）在加拿大巴芬島（Baffin Island）捕捉到這個畫面。畫面中，北極熊十分消瘦，拖著步伐，在人類的垃圾桶中尋找僅存的食物。

尼克蘭說，這隻北極熊可能已在拍攝幾小時內死亡，「這就是飢餓的模樣，肌肉萎縮，一點力氣都沒有，那是緩慢、痛苦的死亡過程。」尼克蘭說，「記錄這隻垂死的北極熊時，我們整個團隊強忍著淚水與情緒。」

外界質疑尼克蘭為何不拯救該隻北極熊，尼克蘭回應，「當然，我想過這件事。」但當時他手邊沒有麻醉槍，也沒有足夠餵食北極熊「重達400多磅的海豹肉」，「我真的救不了這隻北極熊。」實際上，加拿大禁止民眾餵食北極熊。尼克蘭不忘強調，「事實簡單明瞭，如果地球持續暖化，我們會失去全部的北極熊。」
